[DISCUSS] February Incubator Status Report

Joe Witt
Hello,

It is that time again where we must produce our monthly status report.
Below is a quick starter for us to work from.  Please provide
comments/additions/changes.  I'll move this to the wiki in a day or two and
further edits can occur there but let's get it started here (it appears
doing it this way is more common in other projects so figured we could give
this a go).  I did write it on the assumption that the release vote will
conclude successfully.  Obviously if that changes so too will the text
below.

We've had a very exciting month IMHO.

Thanks All!

Joe

NiFi

NiFi is a dataflow system based on the concepts of flow-based programming.

NiFi has been incubating since 2014-11-24.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

  1. Grow our community.
  2. Establish rhythm for releases, review processes, and document how to
most effectively bring on new committers.
  3. Await feedback of podling name search submission.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

Nothing we wish to raise at this time.

How has the community developed since the last report?

We have a new PPMC member - Jenn Barnabee.

We continue to receive patches, code ideas, and bug reports from the
community.  Notable
contributions during this reporting period outside the PPMC and committer
base include a
new website design, code which will automate much of the documentation
production, and refactoring to improve code reuse.

The dev mailing list has grown to 80 from 62 in the last report (commits
has grown to 29).

We've received several patches from members outside the initial committer
list including changes which dramatically improved our build process and
  provide new extensions.

How has the project developed since the last report?

We have successfully produced our first release within the Apache
Incubator!

Date of last release:

  January 29, 2015

When were the last committers or PMC members elected?

  January 17, 2015

Looks good.  It would be great if you could also update the project page:
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/nifi.html.  New committers and
releases are good to list in the news section.  NiFi's progress has been
great.  There's a summary of each podling's status on this page, assembled
from the project page and elsewhere: http://incubator.apache.org/clutch.html
.

Looks good.

I think the release vote will pass.

Re: [DISCUSS] February Incubator Status Report

Joe Witt
Our 3rd 'most important item' which was the successful conclusion of our
podlingnamesearch is resolved.  It has been approved so 'Apache NiFi'
appears good to go.

Thus we need a new #3.  I propose we place there:
- Updated our release process with items learned from initial release.

Thanks
Joe

Thanks for being on top of this and all other things Joe. I just looked
